The session will focus on a clinical case, which describes work with a 9 year old little girl presenting with sickle cell and pica. There will be a dialogue regarding the description of therapy and some implications for clinical practice.

Maria Goridari clinical psychology in Athens, Greece. She has worked in the paediatric psychology department in one of the biggest public hospitals in Athens, Greece, for one year followed by 3 years in a day centre offering psychological support to adult cancer patients and their families. She has also worked in private practice, working with children and parents. Moving to London, she has worked in an inpatient unit for adolescents, and in a variety of settings within CAMHS and children’s social services including children with disabilities and looked after children teams. She has had training and supervision in psychoanalytical theory and practice as well as in psychosomatics (the Paris school of psychosomatics, provided by the Hellenic Psychosomatic Society). She currently works at King's College Hospital, in the paediatric sickle cell & thalassaemia team. 

Maxine Dennis is a Psychoanalyst, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Organisational Consultant. She has undertaken various service Head and Departmental Lead roles within the NHS, UK and a number of projects with various communities.  She has a particular interest in psychotherapy across the life span, trauma and complex presentations. Maxine  has a private practice, teaches and supervises in various psychology and psychotherapy training institutions in the UK and abroad.
