Psychoanalysis Summer School 2017

A big thank you to all our members and candidates who contributed to the success of last week’s Psychoanalysis Summer School at Birkbeck University.

This hugely popular event, which is a joint venture between The Institute of Psychoanalysis and Birkbeck Institute for Social Research, is now in its third year and once again attracted students from all over the world, from a range of backgrounds and disciplines.

We are delighted that this year’s event sold out with a record intake of 150 students – a 50% increase on last year and almost three times the intake of the first summer school held in 2015, proving a strong interest in psychoanalysis among young students and building our confidence in the efficacy of the event.

Feedback from the students highlighted that they were impressed with the calibre of the speakers and discussion group leaders. They felt the event provided a unique opportunity to learn from and interact with practising psychoanalysts and candidates, while providing fantastic value for money.

Following the positive growth and feedback from this London based event, plans are now in place to run summer schools in other locations across the UK in the coming year. Our London Psychoanalytic Summer School will run again in Summer 2018.
