Victor Sedlak, PhD. Training and Supervising Analyst of the British Psycho-Analytical Society.
Victor Sedlak began visiting Poland to provide supervision and teaching in the 1980s when there were just a few analysts and therapists in Warsaw. From 1993 to 1996 he was travelling to Warsaw six times a year to supervise senior members of the Polish organizations in order to further their development to the point where they could achieve direct associate member status with the IPA.
These visits were eventually sponsored by the British Psycho-Analytical Society and ended when sufficient therapists had qualified as Direct Members of the IPA and an IPA study group was formed. It is now a Component Society of the IPA. Since 2009 Sedlak has been meeting biannually with a large group of senior analysts in Warsaw for theoretical and clinical seminars.
He also travels twice a year to Gdansk in the north of Poland where there is a thriving psychoanalytical network of analysts and therapists. Occasionally he is asked to consult with office holders in the Polish Society about organisational and educational issues.
Since 2008 he has visited Berlin twice a year to meet with a group of six psychoanalysts for clinical supervision.
In 2012 he was Visiting Professor in Psychoanalysis in Kyoto University in Japan and lectured in various locations in that country.
In October 2015 he will visit Taiwan to provide theoretical and clinical seminars.
