Psychoanalysis under Conditions of War

How is one to conduct psychoanalytic treatment in the midst of a war when bombs are dropped, loved ones are brutally killed and families are dispersed and torn apart by the ravages inflicted upon the Ukraine by its Russian aggressor? Based upon a two-year long series of monthly clinical meetings with Ukrainian psychoanalysts and psychotherapists in consultation with two analysts from France and the USA under the umbrage of the Sigmund Freud Museum, Vienna, an astonishing collection of clinical data has been accumulated which will be presented and discussed by Jeanne Wolff Bernstein, the moderator of these clinical discussions. During these couch-less sessions, often held in make-shift settings, severely traumatized individuals are brought back to an emotionally functional life through the ingenious, often surprising interventions by the different psychoanalysts who cannot afford to maintain a neutral position but are compelled to act and interpret in the moment in the here and now.
