A conference celebrating the IJP Special Issue on the Revised Standard Edition of Sigmund Freud.
Saturday 11th January 2025
11.00am - 6.00pm (GMT)
Online via Zoom
This event will be recorded.
Published in 2024, the Revised Standard Edition (RSE) addresses critiques of the original translations by James Strachey, and reflects years of dedicated work by its Editor, Mark Solms.
Our upcoming Special Issue on the RSE contains papers from a variety of international voices in response to publication of the new Edition. Readers of the IJP can look forward to original contributions on the topics of: sexual difference (Fiorini), Freud’s lost 1922 lecture on the Unconscious (Giampieri-Deutsche), Nachträglichkeit and the legacy of Apartheid (Gobodo-Madikizela), as well as many more.
To celebrate the IJP Special Issue, we will be joined by a number of authors from the Issue, as well as the RSE’s Editor, Mark Solms, for a conference which will examine the historical journey of Freud’s translations, and the profound implications of the new Edition for psychoanalysis in the 21st century.
Please join us on 11th January 2025, where we will discuss the IJP Special Issue on the Revised Standard Edition, and hear from a variety of voices on the significance of the RSE.
