Following on from the Institute of Psychoanalysis Open Evening aimed at junior doctors, Maudsley and Kings professionals.
An informal discussion about the experience of what it's like to be a psychoanalyst.
Dr Kate Pugh is a Child and Adolescent and Adult Psychoanalyst and Fellow of the British Psychoanalytical Society, and is a Training and Supervising Analyst for the Institute of Psychoanalysis. She was Consultant Psychiatrist and tutor in Psychotherapy at Central and North West London Trust from 2000 to 2021 and now working privately. Dr Pugh teaches in Universities including the Psychoanalytic Studies Msc course at UCL, as well as teaching and supervising Chinese students in Beijing. Dr Pugh also runs clinical workshops at 10WW including Seminars on Child Analysis and the Psychosomatic Workshop.
Diane Turner is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and psychoanalyst. She works as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist in the T1DE Team (Type 1 diabetes and disordered eating) at Kings College Hospital and works in private practice. She trained at The Tavistock Clinic and has worked with patients with severe personality disorders at The Cassel Hospital, in eating disorders, and in Forensic Psychiatry. Diane set up and managed a community service in parental mental health.
Simon Harrison is a Consultant Neuropsychiatrist at the Maudsley Hospital.
Dr Anne Patterson is a Fellow of the British Psychoanalytical Society, a retired consultant psychiatrist in psychotherapy in the NHS for 22 years, co-President of the Balint Society and editor of the New Library of Psychoanalysis. She is also the co-director of the European Psychoanalytic Film Festival and co-organiser of the monthly film club at 10 Windsor Walk.
