Bringing Together Mind and Body: The Work of the 10 Windsor Walk Psychosomatics Workshop

Dates: Mondays 12th and 19th October, 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th November and 7th December.

This series is hybrid, participants are welcome to join in person or online.

This series will be chaired by Kate Pugh and Simon Harrison.

Each session will consist of a lecture followed by a discussion.

This eight-part series will explore psychoanalytic approaches to the relationship between body and mind through the experience of the Psychosomatics Workshop and those who have participated in it.  Since 2020 the Workshop has met regularly at 10 Windsor Walk, itself situated between the Maudsley and King’s College Hospitals, bringing together clinicians, working across specialities and disciplines related to the soma and psyche, including psychoanalysts, psychologists, psychotherapists, doctors and health professionals.

The series will consist of talks and presentations from members of the workshop.

The series will introduce psychoanalytic ideas and approaches to body and mind, in particular ideas from the British Psychoanalytic Society and the Paris School of Psychosomatics that have informed the Workshop.

Participants will be invited to reflect on the experience that clinicians have had in contributing to the workshop, on what the workshop and its members have learnt, and what work remains to be done.  The aim, as that of the Workshop, is to deepen participants capacity to engage with the complexity of the demands that body and mind make of each other.
