12 July
Based on a True Story: A filmmaker’s approach to depicting a life.
Oliver Veysey

The speakers will be in dialogue with psychoanalysts: Anne Patterson, Emma Hotopf & Maxine Dennis

7.00pm - 8.30pm

Oliver Veysey is a screenwriter, producer and founder of Camden Film Company. He has worked on both sides of the Atlantic on studio blockbusters and independent films. He was a producer of The Railway Man starring Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman and is currently in pre-production on a film portrayal of The Who’s troubled genius, Keith Moon.  Recently, he returned to work as an Honorary Psychotherapist at the Parkside Clinic.

Before there can be a film, there must be a script. Starting with The Railway Man, I am going to look at the choices we make when developing screenplays, and ask what might be the shared elements of psychoanalysis and the filmmaking process, with an emphasis on my practical experience of bringing stories to the screen.
