This event is an introduction to the idea of journey which will be the theme of IOPA's upcoming 12th European Psychoanalytic Film Festival to be held in November 2024.
At this event, we will screen three films followed by a discussion chaired by a psychoanalyst, focusing on the idea of internal and external journeys: the journey of making a film, the psychoanalytic journey and the internal, psychic journey. The highlight of the festival will be a showing of Blind Trust (dir. Molly Castelloe, 2022), an award winning film about Dr Vamik Volkan's work as a psychoanalyst, bringing representatives of enemy groups together for dialogue in traumatised regions of the world. More topical than ever, filmmaker Molly Castelloe and Dr Vamik Volkan will join for the screening and discussion. Wild Strawberries (dir. Ingmar Bergman, 1957) and After Love (dir. Aleem Khan, 2020) also feature in the programme.
