Psychoanalytic Perspective on Eating Disorders
About this event
Dates: Thursdays 7:30pm - 9pm, on the 11th, 18th and 25th June.
A series of three online seminars with Niki Kern.
This series is open to clinicians and therapists who are interested in or already working with patients with Eating Disorders.
This three-part seminar series offers an in-depth exploration of eating disorders through a range of psychoanalytic lenses. Drawing on different traditions, the series will examine how these frameworks understand the development, function, and meaning of disordered eating.
Across the seminars, we will consider key themes such as embodiment, control, desire, relational dynamics, and the role of the unconscious in shaping eating disorder presentations. Particular attention will be paid to clinical implications, including transference and countertransference, therapeutic stance, and the challenges inherent in this work.
Open to all clinicians working with, or interested in, eating disorders, these seminars aim to deepen understanding, enrich clinical thinking, and support more nuanced, reflective approaches to care.
