Working with Parents and their Babies who have a Disability
In this seminar, Carol will present examples from her clinical work with families raising a baby or toddler with a disability. Drawing on psychoanalytic and attachment-based perspectives, she will explore the ideas that inform and support this work. The presentation will focus on the therapist’s experience in the room - what is evoked, how it is understood, and how these reflections shape her practice.
Speaker: Carol Levine
Carole Levine is a Psychoanalytically trained Parent Infant Pychotherapist and an Integrative Psychotherapist. Carol worked within a CAMHS Team in the NHS for 26 years in varying capacities. In 2014, she established the Parent Infant Psychotherapy Service and later led the 0–5s Service in Enfield CAMHS, while continuing clinical practice, supervision, and team management. She subsequently co-facilitated therapeutic parent-toddler groups within the PAIRS Team in Hounslow. She now works in private practice with parents and infants, maintaining a specialist focus on supporting babies with disabilities and their families, including co-facilitating therapeutic groups alongside a physiotherapist.
