Philip Stokoe is a Psychoanalyst in private practice working with adults and couples, and also an Organisational Consultant, consulting to a wide range of organisations. He worked in the Adult Department of the Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust between 1994 and 2012 and was Clinical Director from 2007. During his career, he has been responsible for the creation of innovative services, including a treatment system for very dangerous adolescents held in a Youth Treatment Centre, and developing a model for understanding organisations: the Healthy Organisation Model. From this, he created “the short course intervention”, combining teaching and consultation. Ideas arising from that intervention model led to his design of the Primary Care Psychotherapy Consultation Service (PCPCS), and City University’s radically different approach to training psychiatric nurses.
