These films represent depictions of class struggle and inequality, where an ideological discourse of meritocracy juxtaposes with the depiction of a working-class alienated precariate. The latter try to rise through an increasingly oppressive hegenmonic system utilising either emancipatory education, or violence and criminality. I will link this to our country's apparent fetishism with class structure and explore this from a psychoanalytic perspective.
