Hope and its vicissitudes: a dialogue between film and psychoanalysis

9 May
Anne Patterson and Katalin Lanczi
7.00pm - 8.30pm

Chaired by: Anne Patterson & Emma Hotopf

Katalin Lanczi and Anne Patterson are Fellows of the BPAS, co-directors of the forthcoming European Psychoanalytic Film Festival in London on 4-6 November 2022 and co-organisers of the monthly film club at 10 Windsor Walk.

In this seminar they will present aspects of the relationship between psychoanalysis and the cinema and then introduce the theme of the next festival, ‘Hope,’ from various perspectives. Katalin Lanczi will give a taster of this in her analysis of the film ‘Anna’s War’ that we highly recommend you watch beforehand.

It is available on

One day membership costs $3.99.

Concession tickets are available, for students, BPAS candidates and NHS trainees. Please email outreach@iopa.org.uk if you are unsure if you qualify for a concession ticket.
