A close reading of some of Freud's papers: Moving Beyond the Introductory Lectures Series (ILS)
A series of six online seminars with Neil Morgan.
This six-seminar course will involve close reading, and commentary on three key papers by Freud. Two seminars are devoted to each paper. The course is designed specifically to provide more complex awareness of concepts initially introduced in the ILS.
These papers by Freud open up, individually, large new areas of psychoanalytical thought. A clinical and two theoretical papers have been chosen for discussion.
The aim is to encourage deeper engagement with Freud's thought and facilitate further development.
Reading material will be provided for each of these sessions
Seminar 1 & 2: Freud S (1911) Psycho-Analytical Notes on an Autobiographical Account of a Case of Paranoia (Dementia Paranoides) SE 12, 9-82.
Seminar 3 & 4: Freud S (1914) On Narcissism: an introduction SE 14, 67-102.
Seminar 5 & 6: Freud S (1920) Beyond the Pleasure Principle SE 18, 1-64.
Please note these sessions can only be purchased as a series and there is a limit of 25 participants.
