The London Clinic of Psychoanalysis first opened its doors on 6th May 1926 - a date purposefully chosen by John Rickman to coincide with Sigmund Freud's 70th birthday. As we approach the Clinic's centenary in 2026, we mark not only a historic milestone but also a century of clinical work, training, and psychoanalytic development. 

Over the past 100 years, the Clinic has grown from its London roots into a national presence, supported by the establishment of the Clinic North. This anniversary offers an opportunity to reflect on that evolution, to honour the many clinicians and patients who shaped its legacy, and to look ahead to the next century of psychoanalytic thought and practice.

To mark this milestone, we invite attendees to join a special centenary event that highlights the Clinic's past, present, and future. The evening will feature extracts of a new documentary, charting the history, achievements, and ongoing evolution of the London Clinic, created by Leticia Paes, analyst and member of our Society.  The film draws on interviews with past directors, consultants, patients, and colleagues from the Free Clinics Research Group, offering a rare insight into the human stories and ideas that shaped the Clinic over the decades. Following the screening, a panel of contributors will lead a reflective discussion, giving attendees the chance to hear directly from those involved in the Clinic's transformation. The event will also include a curated exhibition of archival materials and historical documents, providing a unqiue opportunity to explore the Clinic's heritage up close.
