An introduction to key concepts in psychoanalysis for undergraduate and postgraduate students

The Summer School is a three-day introduction to key concepts in psychoanalysis, offered by the Institute of Psychoanalysis and Birkbeck Institute of Social Research. This event is held over three days and this year takes place from 16 to 18 July at Birkbeck in London.

This event is open to everyone, including current undergraduate and postgraduate students from any discipline or background. You do not need to have any prior knowledge or experience of psychoanalysis.

Seminars and discussions led by practising analysts on topics including…

  • What is psychoanalysis
  • Child and adolescent psychoanalysis
  • Psychoanalysis and culture
  • Psychoanalysis and storytelling
  • Hysteria and the body in psychoanalysis
  • Psychoanalysis in psychiatry
  • Training as a psychoanalyst

On one of the days, there is also an optional film screening where you will watch the film and enjoy a psychoanalytic discussion afterwards.
