Th e book tries to answer the question of what psycho analysts do when they are practicing psychoanalysi s. The Comparative Clinical Methods author team\, led by David Tuckett\, collaborated with over a th ousand colleagues worldwide over twenty years to c ollect a unique dataset of everyday clinical sessi ons\, using a new workshop discussion method desig ned to reveal differences. Faced with diversity an d wanting to surface and understand it\, they had to evolve a new theoretical framework. This framew ork covers different approaches to the analytic si tuation (using the metaphors of cinema\, dramatic monologue\, theater\, and immersive theater): diff erent sources of data to infer unconscious content \; differences in the troubles patients unconsciou sly experience and how to approach them\; and diff erences in when\, about what\, and how a psychoana lyst should talk.\n \n Taking the form of eleven v ery practical questions for psychoanalysts to ask of each session they conduct\, the framework helps experienced psychoanalysts and students alike det ermine their intention and independently assess th eir progress. A final chapter applies the new fram ework and practical questions to contemporary tech nical controversies with some surprising results.\ n \n Ron Britton and David Tuckett\, both past win ners of the Sigourney Award\, are distinguished fe llows and training and supervising analysts of the British Psychoanalytical Society. This conversati on offers a unique opportunity to explore crucial questions for everyday psychoanalysts and psychoth erapists with the opportunity for the audience to submit questions to the two participants.\n \n &ld quo\;An admirable\, heroic\, rigorous\, sustained\ , effort that gives us access to information well beyond surmise\, the only other approach to find o ut what analysts do\, and even \;more valuably what they think and what they unknowingly believe they are doing and why. The book is very stimulat ing and I hope our fellow practitioners appreciate  \;it.&rdquo\; - \;Ronald Britton\n \n \n \n \n \n Please note: This \;lecture \;wil l be recorded \;and available for 1 week to al l registered participants. \;This is to allow& nbsp\;international attendees to enjoy the event a t a more appropriate time in their time zone.
