 ;journey&rsquo\; seems to make regular appearances
  as a shallow clich&eacute\; but it does evince co
 ncepts deeply rooted in human consciousness and hu
 man prehistory\, ancestral themes now surfacing as
  currency in popular culture. \n \n Journey evokes
  a multiplicity of associations that offer a broad
  canvas for the exploration of its representation 
 in film from literal road movies and tales of migr
 ation to more interior voyages into the mind. \n \
 n The etymology of &lsquo\;journey&rsquo\; is orig
 inally from the Latin &lsquo\;diurnus&rsquo\; / &l
 squo\;diurnum&rsquo\; meaning &lsquo\;daily portio
 n\,&rsquo\; becoming &lsquo\;journ&eacute\;e&rsquo
 \; in French and arriving in Middle English as &ls
 quo\;journey.&rsquo\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; It is a concep
 t deeply rooted in the human psyche and underpins 
 universal narratives such as the &lsquo\;hero&rsqu
 o\;s journey&rsquo\; from ancient mythology to the
  latest video games. \n \n A psychoanalyst&rsquo\;
 s daily work is structured around each patient&rsq
 uo\;s internal journey. Film makers\, whose creati
 ve process\, itself a journey\, produce a genre th
 at is par excellence the portrayal of their charac
 ters&rsquo\; journey through time\, space\, relati
 onships\, between countries and cultures.\n \n The
  12th European Psychoanalytic Film festival honour
 s the tradition of bringing together film makers a
 nd psychoanalysts to discuss the resonance between
  our different but overlapping journeys.&nbsp\;\n
