 he weekend will run from 1pm on Friday 13th Novemb
 er with an optional drinks reception on the Friday
  evening to honour Andrea Sabbadini\, a full day S
 aturday\, and until 3pm Sunday.</p>\n \n <hr />\n 
 <p style="margin-bottom:11px\;">The theme of the f
 estival is <b><u>PASSION</u></b><br />\n <br />\n 
 Passion disturbs. Complex and compelling\, it disr
 upts reason\, unsettles order\, and defies contain
 ment. </p>\n \n <p style="margin-bottom:11px\;">Th
 e word ‘passion’ is derived from the Latin root pa
 tior\, meaning ‘to suffer’ or ‘to undergo.’ Sharin
 g its origin with ‘patient’ and ‘passive\,’ it is 
 experienced as an overwhelming force imposed upon 
 us and\, seeming to be beyond our control\, it is 
 akin to madness. Passion is not defined by its obj
 ect: its essence is excess. </p>\n \n <p style="ma
 rgin-bottom:11px\;">Like Hope (EPFF11) and Journey
  (EPFF12)\, Passion is not a psychoanalytic concep
 t\, yet it runs like a red thread through the work
  of Freud from the seething cauldron of the uncons
 cious to the life and death drives. </p>\n \n <p s
 tyle="margin-bottom:11px\;">In the films we have c
 hosen for the festival\, contemporary European fil
 mmakers explore passion in its myriad forms: in th
 e passionate suffering of mourning\, in the passio
 n for truth or in impossible love. It is the inten
 sity and urgency of feeling that unites them all. 
 </p>\n \n <p style="margin-bottom:11px\;">It was t
 he twin passions for film and psychoanalysis of An
 drea Sabbadini (1950-2025) that inspired him to cr
 eate this biennial event and we celebrate his life
  and work in the opening afternoon of this\, the 1
