 rcus Evans\, psychoanalyst will be in conversation
  with mental health nurse\, Jo Osimuwa. </p>\n \n 
 <p>Everyone working in mental health knows how emo
 tionally taxing that work can be. There’s somethin
 g fundamentally different to working in physical m
 edicine. We’re not dealing with patients who “have
 ” an illness\, but with people whose difficulties 
 are central to their personality\, their emotional
  experience and their ways of relating. In working
  with them\, we get deeply affected and we might g
 et embroiled in ways that make things worse. Relat
 ionships are central to the work. If we understand
  what happens between our patients and us\, in our
 selves\, and between staff\, we can be of much mor
 e help to them. Psycho-analysis offers such ways o
 f understanding\, and this is what this course aim
 s to do.</p>\n \n <hr />\n <p><strong>Marcus Evans
 </strong> is a Fellow of the British Psychoanalyti
 cal Society-with a long-standing interest in apply
 ing psychoanalytic thinking in mental health setti
 ngs. Before retiring from the NHS\, he was a psych
 iatric nurse and an adult psychotherapist. He was 
 a founding member of Fitzjohn’s service for the tr
 eatment of patients with severe and enduring menta
 l health issues and personality disorders and clin
 ical lead of the adult and adolescent services at 
 the Tavistock for five years.  He is the author of
  three books. ‘Making Room for Madness in Mental H
 ealth’\, ‘Psychoanalytic Thinking in Mental Health
  Settings’ & ‘Gender Dysphoria: A therapeutic mode
 l for working with children adolescents and young 
 adults’ a book he wrote with his wife Susan Evans.
 </p>\n \n <p><strong>Jo Osimuwa</strong> has a bac
 kground as a mental health nurse\, she currently w
 orks as a Clinical and Operational Lead at South L
 ondon and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. Her caree
 r includes roles such as Inpatient Matron\, ward m
 anager\, Community Psychiatric Nurse and she has e
 xtensive experience across various mental health s
 ettings. She has worked on inpatient wards\, manag
 ed female psychiatric wards\, and had been part of
  community mental health teams. Additionally\, she
  has worked as a clinical educator\, collaborating
  with universities to provide placements for stude
 nts\, supporting their development\, and training 
 clinical staff to become practice assessors and su
